0 2012 Aprilia Tuono V4R Sportbike

Aprilia has announced that it will be replacing its aging V-Twin powered Tuono naked streetfighter with an all-new motorcycle based off the Aprilia RSV4 Factory and RSV4R Sportbikes.

Its classic moniker will continue with the new motorcycle being called the Aprilia Tuono V4R Sportbike. The 2012 Aprilia Tuono V4R Sportbikes will be powered by the same liquid-cooled 999cc V-Four engine as used in the Superbikes. A new exhaust system has been fitted that’s more than four pounds lighter. An updated ride-by-wire throttle system with traction control has been added as well. The rest of the powertrain is essentially the same including the manual six-speed transmission and oil-bathed multi-plate clutch with slipper action functionality.

The bike incorporates a sophisticated electronics package including its multiple engine map mode which allows the rider to select between three power maps via a push of a handlebar-mounted button. The big news however is the traction control system that allows the rider to choose between eight different wheel spin settings. The system uses twin accelerometers and gyrometers to feed the ECU data about the dynamics of the motorcycle. The system also incorporates a quick-shifter and a new feature we've never seen on a modern sport motorcycle.
